Storm Relief Update
Dear Friend,
It’s been a long week since the Memorial Day Flood took lives and destroyed homes and possessions of many hundreds of Houstonians.
Since then Chabad branches in Houston have mobilized to respond to the needs of community members, non-stop.
- Over 1,000 hours of Chabad volunteers selflessly cleaning, scrubbing, schlepping and organizing in over 50 homes and institutions, including UOS and Meyerland Minyan.
- Over 250 home-cooked hot meals prepared and delivered to families in need.
- Coordination of vetting and finding homes for rescue dogs impacted by flood
- Providing immediate cleaning materials needed for cleanup effort.
- Placing displaced families in temporary housing
- Free trucking service for transferring furniture and possessions to temporary storage.
- Collection and cataloging of Shaimos (Jewish religious articles for burial) and delivery to funeral homes.
- Assessment and replacement of damaged religious articles, i.e. tzitzis, tefillin and mezuzos.
- Crisis, counseling and medical intervention, including hospitalizations.
- Activating the worldwide Chabad network for local homeowners on vacation or family members who need support out of town and overseas.
The needs are great and we are continuing to respond to the many calls we are receiving for help, but we can only do so with your help.
If you are able to volunteer your time for any of the above purposes please let us know.
Please donate so we can continue to effectively address the needs of families devastated by this historic storm.

Thank you to Chabad- Lubavitch from the Alters
Thank you to Chabad- Lubavitch for providing exceptional support to Lindsey and Andrew. Thank you to Rabbi Levi Wolvovsky in Italy, Rabbi Yitzi Loewenthal of Copenhagen and Rabbi Chaim Lazaroff of Houston. As we all know Chabad is an exceptional international organization available to Jewish people around the world. Both Lindsey and Andrew, received counseling and prayers. Thank you to Rabbi Loewenthal for his guidance and Rochel Loewenthal for her "motherly" hug and dinner. Thank you to Rabbi Wolvovsky for helping Andrew find the right synagogue in Florence Friday night. This experience has proven once again that our Jewish community extends beyond our local community. We thank Chabad for their work and their immediate response and kind attention. We will always be grateful. - Laura Alter

MAILBAG: Thank you
Good Morning,
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for all you have done for us this week. Our heads were on Jupiter since the flood, not able to truly process what was going on. There will never be enough words to express how grateful we are for all of your help. Knowing there were so many others in so much more need made it quite difficult to accept any help. We were so sure, from Jupiter, we could get it done ourselves. We never realized how much we needed the support with your smiles, meals, helping hands, strong backs, and personal care for our belongings.
While this is still a long process before it's done, your help got us through the very worst of it. From here on out this can only be a huge inconvenience. Our heads have left Jupiter and are back on Earth. When all is done we look forward to having you over to the house for a party and we won't ask you to clean up! :-)
For the people there with Amber and Chabad Uptown that we do not have emails for, please forward our thanks.
We are sure this blessing of help and friendship you offered will come back to you all ten-fold.
Forever Thankful.
